Three Marines Make Armed Forces Triathlon Team

2006 Armed Forces Triathlon

Three new Marines earn a spot on the U.S. Armed Forces Triathlon Team that will compete at the 2006 CISM Championship in Satenas, Sweden 5-10 July.  Capt Tim Tapply, 1stLt Jessica Utter, and Sgt Jon Hooge will represent the United States Marine Corps and the United States at this year's CISM Championship.

Tapply, a veteran All-Marine with the running and triathlon program, made his first Armed Forces team with a time of 1:53:21 in the 1500 meter swim, 40 K bike ride, and 10 K run.  Rookie All-Marine Hooge was the first Marine to cross the finish line with a remarkable time of 1:48:56.  Utter, was the first woman Marine to cross the finish line with a time of 2:08:46.  In 2005, Utter made her debut to the All-Marine Triathlon team and All-Marine Ironman Team.  In addition, Utter was nominated for the 2005 Marine Corps Female Athlete of the Year.
