This year marked the 30th Anniversary of Women's Basketball as an Armed Forces Sport, and the All-Army team successfully defended their gold medal from 2006 by capturing the Champion"s title with an undefeated, 6-0 record. The win allows Army to lay claim to 26 Gold Medals in the 30-year history of the event. Air Force finished second with a 3-3 record. Navy and the Marine Corps battled it out into overtime in the last game of the tournament - with the Marine ladies coming out on top - to clinch the Third place honors with a 2-4 record. Navy finished 1-5.
Army's top gun, SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) was leading scorer for the tourney with a 20.2 point average. Air Force"s SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) had a 15.2 average and 1LT Alonna Marable (Schofield Barracks, HI) averaged 14.8. The top scorers for the Navy and Marine Corps both had 13.7 point averages. They were YN3 Tija Hopkins (USCG, Petaluma, CA) for the Navy, and LCPL Nicole Wells (Paris Island, SC) for the Marines.
The Marine Corps' LCPL Nicole Wells hustled at both ends of the court. Her savvy passing allowed her to lead the tourney in assists with 29, and her pesky defense resulted in her leading in steals with 23.
The All-Tournament Team, representing the top performers by position, was announced at the conclusion of the tournament. The All-Tourney team honors go to:

The All-Star team will participate in this years PRO-AM National Championship, March 28th to April1st in Las Vegas. The team is comprised of:

"ARMY SLIDES PAST AIR FORCE BY 2" Even ten inches of new snow the night before couldn't stop the Army. But they only slid past the Air Force 72-70, maintaining their unbeaten streak and finishing the tournament with a 6-0. SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) was leading scorer for Army with 27 points. 1LT Alonna Marable (Schofield Barracks, HI) had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and SPC Shan'tel Ali (Fort Sam Houston, TX) had 12 points and 10 rebounds. SPC Jaci Bice (Fort Richardson, AK) pulled down 11 rebounds in the effort. Air Force's bench came through for them by contributing 25 points, but they couldn't quite squeak past the Army. SSgt Lakyshia Fullwood (Robins AFB, GA) led the way for the Air Force with 16 points. SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) added 10.
"MARINES SINK NAVY A SECOND TIME" Although it took an overtime period, for the second time in the tournament the Marine Corps beat the Navy, clinching Third Place bragging rights for the Marine ladies. With the score tied at 50 at the conclusion of regulation play, the Marines took charge and out-scored Navy 13-6 in the overtime period for a final score of 63-56. LCPL Tiffany LeBarre (MCAS New River) topped the Marine Corps scoring with 26 points. 1LT Lisa Lawrence (Corpus Christi, TX) and LCPL Nicole Torres (Cherry Point, NC) each added 10 more. Navy's YN3 Tija Hopkins (USCG, Petaluma, CA) was top Navy scorer with 13 points. SH3 Judy Burns (USS Theodore Roosevelt) had a "double-double" with 11 points and 12 rebounds. AE1 Rose Wood (USS Theodore Roosevelt) also threw in 10. FC2 Chianti Bryant (West San Diego, CA) was top rebounder with 14.

"ARMY CLINCHES TITLE BY BEATING THE MARINES" The All-Army clinched the gold medal in today's play by beating the Marine ladies by a score of 80-59. Army's 58% shooting from the field was led by 1LT Alonna Marable (Schofield Barracks, HI) with 34 points. SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) had 23 and SPC Jaci Bice (Fort Richardson, AK) added 13. LCPL Nicole Wells (Paris Island, SC) was leading scorer for the Marines with 19 points. LCPL Tiffany LeBarre (MCAS New River) and 1LT Lisa Lawrence (Corpus Christi, TX) both added 11 each in the Marine Corps' effort. With Army's record at 5-0, this win clinched the Gold Medal for the Army ladies, although the round robin tournament continues for one more day.
"AIR FORCE TURNS THE TABLES AND BEATS NAVY THIS TIME" Air Force turned the tables on the Navy and beat them by a score of 82-69 after losing to them in the first round. Air Force's SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) and SSgt Lakyshia Fullwood (Robins AFB, GA) both had "double-doubles" for the effort. Hawkins had 21 points with 10 rebounds while Fullwood had 10 points and 10 rebounds. SrA Nicole Bowman (Maxwell AFB, AL) also had 16 points and A1C Tashera Chisolm (Dover AFB, DE) added 14. Navy's YN3 Tija Hopkins (USCG, Petaluma, CA) was top Navy scorer with 16 points. AE1 Rose Wood (USS Theodore Roosevelt) added 14 points, while SH3 Judy Burns (USS Theodore Roosevelt) and SK2 Loni Boaz-Anderson (NAS New Orleans, LA) both had 10 points each.

"ARMY SINKS NAVY" The All-Army team kept rolling along with their winning ways by defeating the Navy 95-76 in the first contest of the day. SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) couldn't be stopped early in the first half and took the Army out to a quick lead they never lost. PFC Shelly Jones (Fort Bragg, NC) scored a "double-double" with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Okinawa's SGT Amoni Suttice added 17 points and SGT Chrishea Fisher (Fort Sill, OK) threw in 11 to put the Army within one game of clinching the title. SH3 Judy Burns (USS Theodore Roosevelt) led the way for Navy, with 21 points and 13 rebounds. YN3 Tija Hopkins (USCG, Petaluma, CA) had 19 points, and ENS Ashley Pelzek (NAS Pensacola, FL) and FC2 Chianti Bryant (West San Diego, CA) had 12 and 11 points respectively.
"AIR FORCE STOPS THE MARINES COLD" The Marine Corps' hot 3-point shooters went cold in the second game last night, and the Marines could only muster up a 22% shooting percentage from the field and 10% from the 3-point range in losing to the Air Force by a score of 77-47. Air Force's SrA Michellyn O'Donnell (Anderson AFB, Guam) was leading scorer for the Air Force with 14 points. SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) was the only other Air Force player in double figures in the well-rounded Air Force attack. All Air Force players entered the game and all scored. LCPL Nicole Wells (Paris Island, SC) led the way for the Marines with 12 points. LCPL Tiffany LeBarre (MCAS New River) and CAPT Karen Walker (University of New Mexico) both added 10 points in the Marine Corps' effort.

"USMC CHALKS UP FIRST WIN" The USMC won their first game of the tournament when they opened the third night of play, beating the Navy by a score of 66-56. LCPL Nicole Torres (Cherry Point, NC) led the way with 22 points. LCPL Nicole Wells (Paris Island, SC) added 16, going 7 of 12 from the free throw line, and 1LT Lisa Lawrence (Corpus Christi, TX) had 13 - hitting on 5 of 9 shots from the field. The Navy had three players in double digits. YN3 Tija Hopkins (USCG, Petaluma, CA), FC2 Chianti Bryant (West San Diego, CA), and ENS Ashley Pelzek (NAS Pensacola, FL) had 12, 11, and 10 points respectively.
"ARMY ROLLING ALONG UNDEFEATED" The Army took a commanding lead in the double round-robin tournament when they pulled away from the Air Force in the final six minutes of play for a 79-63 victory. SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) and PFC Shelly Jones (Fort Bragg, NC) had 20 points each, while SPC Jaci Bice (Fort Richardson, AK) tossed in 17. SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) led the way for the Air Force, scoring 22 points. Army now stands alone at 3-0, after the first round of play, while Air Force, Navy, and the Marines are in a 3-way tie for second with 1-2 records.

"NO OVERTIME MAGIC FOR AIR FORCE ON THIS DAY" Navy posted a 70-66 overtime win over Air Force on the second day of the 2007 Armed Forces Women's Basketball Championship, Navy, who led 45-33 at the 12:24 mark of the second half, saw its lead disappear when a lay-up by SrA Muneerah Williams (Dover AFB, DE) knotted the game at 59 at the end of regulation. Air Force went cold and could only manage seven points in OT. Navy ENS Ashley Pelzek (NAS Pensacola, FL) led all scorers with a game high 28 points. YN3 Taji Hopkins (USCG, Petaluma, CA, whose key free throws in OT helped seal Navy's victory, scored 10 points. Williams had a led Air Force with 20 points. SrA Nichole Bowman (Maxwell AFB, AL) and SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) pumped in 16 and 14 respectively for the "Zoomies".
"ARMY DEFEATS A DETERMINED MARINE CORPS TEAM AND STAYS UNDEFEATED" Player-Asst Coach SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) led Armey to a 77-68 victory over the Marine Corps. Army took the lead mid way through the first half and never looked back. Crawford finished the game with 18 points, followed by SPC Jaci Bice (Fort Richardson, AK) who had 17 and 1LT Alonna Marable (Schofield Barracks, HI) who scored 16. LCPL Nicole Torres (Cherry Point, NC) who turned in a great performance on both sides of the court, led the Marines with 20 points. Her teammate Capt Karen Walker (Univ of New Mexico) added 10 points.

"AIR FORCE SQUEEZES BY THE MARINE CORPS IN OT" The Air Forces posted a 91-88 overtime victory over the Marine Corps in the opening game of the 2007 Armed Forces Women's Basketball Championship. The Marines led 71-60 at the 6:03 mark of the second half but couldn't hold on the lead. The two teams turned the ball over 86 times in a game that ended in a 77-77 deadlock at the end of regulation. SrA Muneerah Williams (Dover AFB, DE) led the Air Force with 19 points. SrA Nina Hawkins (Dyess AFB, DE) and A1C Tashera Chisolm (Dover AFB, DE) bothe pumped in 14 for the ladies in blue, and SrA Nichole Bowman (Maxwell AFB, AL) and SSGT Lakyshia Fullwood (Robins AFB, GA) both added 13. Five Marine players scored in double figures. CAPT Karen Walker (Univ. of New Mexico) had a game high 20 points, followed by LCPL Tiffany Labarre (MCAS New River, NC) who pounded in 18. "ARMY TAKES WIND OUT OF NAVY'S SAIL" In the second game of the day Army defeated Navy 73-62. Navy stayed close in the first half trailing by only five, 36-31, at the intermission. Navy didn't score a single point in the first six minutes of the second half. By thet time Army had built a comfortable 48-33 lead. Army 1LT Alonna Marable (Schofield barracks, HI) was the team's high scorer with 18 points. Army Player- Asst Coach SGT Evevetta Crawford (Camp Buckner, Okinawa) added 17 and SPC Jaci Bice (Fort Richardson, AK) managed 15.
