The New Year is here, and it’s time to get back on track. Unhealthy habits can creep into routines throughout the holiday season; eating things that are healthy, eating too much of those things, slacking off on exercise routines. Shake off the guilt and get back on track. What’s done is done, and now it’s time to channel that energy into taking steps to get back on track for your goals. Try these tips to reset your body after the holidays.

  • Cut cocktails. Reset by detoxing from alcohol for at least seven days.
  • Hydrate. Incorporate fruits and vegetables with high water content to get the added hydration benefit. Foods such as celery, cucumbers, and strawberries all have high water content.
  • Reset your digestive system as soon as you can. Keep meals healthy with lean protein, fruits, and vegetables. Eliminate carbohydrates and starchy foods like rice and bread. Meet with the Semper Fit Health Promotion team to create a customized diet and exercise plan.
  • Make time to exercise every day. Join a fitness class, hit up the fitness center, or take a brisk walk. Make it a priority.
  • Get back to a routine. Structure is important for people to be able to hold themselves accountable. Set “SMART” weight loss goals that are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based.
  • Decompress and Reset. Relax and unwind. Feeling restless? Take a walk or participate in an activity.
