Across the Marine Corps, more than 1,300 uniformed and civilian Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) Victim Advocates (VA) stand ready 24/7/365 to support and advocate for those who experience sexual assault.  The Headquarters Marine Corps (HQMC) Exceptional SAPR VA of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding SAPR VA who supports the program’s overall services and prevention efforts with energy, conviction, and commitment.

The 2nd Marine Logistics Groups SSgt Stephanie Nikolaisen is the recipient of the 2022 HQMC Exceptional SAPR VA of the Year Award. SSgt Stephanie Nikolaisen, a SAPR VA since 2013, established and maintained a high caliber SAPR program supporting the Marines and Sailors of 2nd Marine Logistics Group.  She coordinated awareness events, participated in panels to support newly trained SAPR VA classes, and volunteered to cover down on cases to ensure the continued care of Marines.
